Monday 17 May 2021,  9:30am – 12:30pm

Join us on a field walk with botanist Jackie Miles to explore the saltmarsh community at a beautiful property on Lake Curalo in Eden. The diverse species we will encounter include sedges, rushes, reeds, grasses, succulent herbs and low shrubs that can tolerate high soil salinity.

Coastal Saltmarsh is a significant, endangered ecological community occurring in the high tide zones of coastal lakes and estuaries. Saltmarsh provides food and habitat and for fish and other fauna. It also filters nutrients, reduces erosion and is an important carbon sink. Sonia Bazzacco from Local Land Services will talk about the importance of Saltmarsh and what we can do to look after it.

Cost: The field walk is free and morning tea is provided.
