If you missed recent news about a koala sighting in late August in the Wapengo catchment, within the new flora reserve, you can see photos and footage at this Vimeo link or read the Bega District News story here.

If you feel inspired to join in the search for Koalas in the south east coastal forests, Deb Hunt from the Office of Environment and Heritage is organising the next round of Koala Surveys and is keen to see as many volunteers as possible. Here is her message with details about how to join in:

Koala survey volunteering is getting back underway this month after our exciting koala sighting a couple of weeks ago.

The dates for koala surveys this month will be Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 September, meeting at the corner of Bunga Pinch Rd and Tathra Bermagui Rd at 9am.

Please RSVP so we can ensure we have enough transport and equipment for all.

Looking forward to seeing you out in the forest again

Cheers Deb
